Steps to acquire a Tempur-Pedic franchise
- A member of our Franchise Development staff will quickly respond to your inquiry and schedule a telephone call.
- During the first phone call, we will work to understand what you are looking for in a franchise opportunity.
- We will discuss the Tempur-Pedic brand and our mission to change how consumers shop for mattresses, and our Franchising initiative.
- We will discuss your background, proposed timing, markets/areas of interest, working capital, and financial resources.
- If both parties mutually agree that a Tempur-Pedic franchise may be the right fit, we will schedule a follow-up phone call to further explore the opportunity.
- On our second phone call, we will expand upon our first discussion and address any new questions that you may have.
- We will explain the franchise approval process and the importance of the Franchise Application.
- We will send you our current Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD).
- We will review your completed Franchise Application and supporting documents.
- We will complete a Full Credit Review and Background Check on you and any of your partners.
- If we determine you are the right fit for a Tempur-Pedic franchise, we will invite you to attend a Discovery Day.
- You will spend the day meeting with the Tempur-Pedic executives and the departments that support the franchises.
- You will learn about Tempur-Pedic's history and dominant brand position in the mattress industry.
- We will review the approval process and timeline for opening a location.
- We will schedule a follow-up phone call within the next 10 to 14 days to address any questions about what you learned during the Discovery Day or from reviewing the FDD.
- During the next phone call, we will answer any questions you have from the Discovery Day or the Franchise Disclosure Document.
- If both parties agree to move forward with this franchise opportunity, we will draft a Term Letter for you to review and sign.
- Upon return of the signed Term Letter, the Franchise Development department will present your application and franchise proposal to the Franchisee Selection Committee.
- Once approved by Tempur-Pedic, the Franchise Development staff will work with you to obtain the documents needed to prepare the franchise agreement.
- We will schedule a conference call to review and sign the franchise agreement.
- You will return the signed franchise agreement along with your initial franchise fee.
- Once received by Tempur-Pedic, the franchise agreement will be counter-signed, and an original set of documents will be returned to you.
- You and members of our Franchise Development & Franchise Operations staff will work with our partner to select a site for your store.
- Once the site has been selected and approved, our partner will prepare the necessary design schematics and construction drawings that you will need to obtain the building/construction permits.
- Once permits are obtained, construction on the store will begin.
- A Target Grand Opening Date will be established.
- Weekly conference calls will be conducted to address any issues or concerns that arise during the site selection or construction phase.
- As the construction phase begins to wind down and we have a firm date for the opening of the store, you will attend a New Franchisee Orientation.
- The orientation will be conducted at our world headquarters in Lexington, KY.
- The sessions will be focused on store operations, brand, and product topics. The orientation is designed to allow you to learn with other new franchisees and to network with members of our corporate staff.
- Based on the layout and design specifications for the store, the initial order of merchandise and supplies will be placed.
- Approximately one week prior to the opening of the store, the merchandise, supplies, and a representative from our merchandising partner will arrive at the store.
- Members of our Franchise Operations and Training departments will also be onsite to assist you with the Grand Opening of the store.
